Flower and Plant Association's month of
Global Flowers and Healthy Houseplants

An international arrangement for the visitors of Hampton Court Flower Show 2009van wonderen flowers

As sponsors of the ‘Floral Energy Marquee' at the Hampton Court Flower Show 2009, the Flowers & Plants Association (F&PA) introduced visitors to the concept of using flowers and plants from around the world. Including Colombian flowers and foliages for demonstrations, Dutch flowers and plants for the stand, and British bedding plants underplanting a fabulous ‘tree of plants', spectators were wowed with the variety of arrangements the designers created.

Guest designers including F&PA members Sarah Horne, Julia Mitchell, Alison Trickey, Claire Cowling, Fiona Pickles and Vivien Bedford created beautiful and inspirational designs using Colombian roses, carnations, hydrangea, alstroemeria, heliconia and chrysanthemums. The designers' broad use of colourful flowers created must-have arrangements that the visitors were eager to take home on the Sunday when they were auctioned off to the highest bidders.

houseplants

The Flowers & Plants Association promoted the health benefits of houseplants to over 8,000 visitors at the

Retirement Show, London Olympia over 17th-18th July. The association's exhibited the best houseplants for

removing chemicals from the indoor air; many visitors described the F&PA display as ‘the nicest stand at the show'.

The array of suggested plants includes peace lilies, Boston ferns (Nephrolepsis), rubber plants, kentia palms and ivies. Colour was added to the display with marigold bedding plants, and tropical bromeliads including guzmanias, and vrieseas which emit oxygen at night.
