Workshop Sponsored by Oasis Floral Products

Richard is an exceptionally talented designer florist who has been based in Galway for over 30 years in his company - Branch Flowers. Over the course of his career, Richard has become one Ireland's best-known designer florists, achieving gold medals at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show and Hampton Court Flower Show, as well as arranging flowers for the papal visit to Ireland, for visiting heads of state, including Presidents Clinton and Bush.   Richard is internationally renowned for event and wedding floristry.

Having always had a strong interest in both horticulture and floristry, Richard finds the processes involved in floral design "creative and ever-changing". He also says that there is an emotional aspect, as flowers are usually an integral part of personal events such as weddings.

Richard describes his signature style as simple, using locally sourced materials to create his masterpieces. He has showcased this elegant and subtle style in his new coffee-table book 'Flowers', which features stunning arrangements pictured at local landmarks including Barna Woods.

Despite his retirement, Richard is now busier than ever, concentrating on training, teaching and demonstrations. In his spare time, he likes to simply stroll around the city and walk his dog as this gives him time to clear his head.

Richard will be hosting a workshop on the Saturday, which will give you an insight into creating unique wedding designs.
